Turkey was already involved in the early development stages of the A400M program. Finally, in April 2014 the first of ten aircraft was accepted at the 12th Air Transport Base Command in Erkilet. All A400s are operated by the 221st Squadron, nicknamed “Esen”, Turkish for “breeze”. The Atlas actually does provide a fresh breeze and a considerable modernization for the transport capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces
