Despite the addition of already over 150 737 Max aircraft, no less than
320 Next Generation-737s, among them 141 737-800s such as N87531, are
serving throughout United Airlines’ vast network. Back in 2013, United
became the launching customer for the split scimitar winglet which
further reduces drag and saves fuel. In the meantime most of the fleet
originally delivered with only one blended winglet facing upwards, has
been retrofitted with the second, smaller winglet.
