To underline its goal of going 100% green by 2050 and reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 100% in that timeframe, United Airlines has painted one of its newest 787-9 Dreamliners with a special color scheme. Sustainable Aviation Fuel is a low-carbon alternative to normal jet fuel that can be used to fuel aircraft without requiring significant modification. By utilizing SAF, United can lower emissions by up to 85%. Delivered in November of 2024, N24988 is part of a substantial order for more than 100 Dreamliners that are to replace the Star Alliance member’s aging Boeing 767 fleet.
