On May 20, 2022, this C-17 Globemaster was dedicated as the “Spirit of the Candy Bomber” in honor of Colonel Gail “Candy Bomber” Halvorsen for his service during the Berlin Airlift of 1948-1949 in the presence of his family. Gail Halvorsen became famous when he made small parachutes with candy during the Berlin Airlift and dropped them from his Douglas DC-54 as he approached Berlin.
This die-cast metal model airplane is in a scale of 1/500. The model is approximately 5 ¾ inches long and has a wingspan of 5 inches. Suitable for collectors aged 14 and above.
